Itinerary

Day 1Arusha

Arrival at the airport, meet and greetings, then board our vehicle ready to transfer you to the Lodge/Hotel that is closer to Arusha National Park.
Dinner and Overnight at preferred Hotel category, be it LUXURY: Mount Meru Hotel. COMFORT: Impala Hotel. SIMPLE: Mc Ellys Hotel.

Day 2Arusha National Park

After a delicious breakfast, depart to spend the day exploring on Mt. Meru. The Mt. meru have variety of birds species, that is due to presence of mix habitats; That is montane forest, moorland, and volcanic deserts. These different habitats are home to a variety of animals, including elephant, rhino, giraffe, monkey, baboon, klipspringer, warthog, duiker and leopard. Mount Meru boasts up to 400 species of bird, and the mountain is usually a fixed item on birders’ itineraries.
The mountain will offer as many as exciting birds including Crowned Hawk-Eagle, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, and splendid songster Rueppell’s Robin-Chat. As we head towards old man’s beard lichen and we search for skulking gems such as White-starred Robin and the dapper Brown Woodland-Warbler. The park is also a fantastic place to find large herds of buffalo grazing on the mountain slopes, not a remarkable chance for scarce forest antelope like Harvey’s duiker.

Day 3Arusha

We drive around the alarming Mt. Meru to the game plains. These grasslands are home to the last 200 Beesley’s Larks on Earth, and we will search long and hard for this critically endangered Tanzanian endemic species. We have in this place other exciting species like; Chestnut-bellied and Yellow-throated Sandgrouse, Shrikes, Migrant wheatears, Pipits, and Larks galore. The plains are lined by Drepanolobium whistling thorn trees, while hills offer a scrubby habitat that can deliver Red-fronted and Black-throated Barbets, Red-throated Tit. Thicket habitat and riparian strips offer many great birds, including Slate-colored Boubou, Nubian Woodpecker, the highly social Gray-headed Social-Weaver, and the chance to spot of migrants like Common Nightingale and Spotted Flycatcher.

Day 4 - 6Tarangire National Park

After early braeakfast depart from Arusha heading to Tarangire National Park, where we shall take pleasure in some of northern Tanzania’s finest birds. The low baobab-clad plains and fever-tree groves here support many cool species including three Tanzanian endemics and near-endemics birds, such as; Ashy Starling, Yellow-collared Lovebird, and Rufous-tailed Weaver. The lush grasses are full of ground birds like Northern White-bellied Bustard and both Red-necked and Yellow-necked Francolins. Tarangire is one of the worth places to see Elephants found in gigantic numbers along Tarangire River.

Day 7 - 8Tarangire National Park / Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart heading to Ngorongoro Carter, leaving the Great Rift Valley behind. Carefully observing along the flowering Leonotis, incase we encounter a patch; we might have access to relish the coolest sunbird sight in Africa, with the exciting Golden-winged, coppery-colored Bronze, and iridescent purple Tacazee Sunbirds all competing for nectar from the same flowers within Ngorongoro. Descending into the crater we seek to have access to myriad woodland and grassland birds, as well as scavenger vultures. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to 30,000-some big mammals and large number of them can be sighted from a single view point within the crater.

Day 9 - 10Ndutu Area

Early breakfast followed by a departure heading through Malanja depression to Serengeti plains, here Sandgrouse, Larks and Bustards are plentiful. Grant’s gazelles are scattered across the plains, whereas Ostrich and giraffe walk swaying in the haze. Heading to Ndutu area we encounter a beautiful mature Acacia woodland with alkaline lakes and swamps. The lodge’s waterhole is a bird magnet with ever-present Fischer’s Lovebird, a variety of Bishops, Waxbills, and Widowbirds, and the endemic Gray-breasted Spurfowl. The woodlands harbor Rufous Chatterer, Cardinal and Bearded Woodpeckers, Black-faced Babbler, and Green Woodhoopoe. Another better experience in this area is huge number of Wildebeests who usually scatter here for calving purpose. You will sight almost half a million females may be in presence with their young. Predators, chiefly lions and hyenas, obvious don’t miss this occasion with presence of meals undescribed, they follow their actions closely, not to forget vultures look forward to each kill with transformed passion.

Day 11 - 12Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, again time to explore the vast plains of Serengeti, with variable Acacia plants. Experience huge herds of Wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and giraffes along with their associated predators. Not to forget Leopards who are always difficult to find, this is one of the best places in East Africa, if you are lucky enough to sight Leopards. The birds of course do inhabit the areas. We will encounter Tanzania Red-biled Hornbill, Meyer’s Parrot, Usambiro Barbet, Bare-faced Go-away-bird and Gray-headed Silverbill.

Day 13Serengeti to Arusha

Depart to Arusha, stop for lunch at the scenic Gibbs Farm, a good place to spot a Grosbeak Weaver and Green-headed Sunbird.
